National Stroke Awareness Month. Yes I am amazed at the last one and that this myth is most people's common perception. I suffered either a TIA and a stroke, or as my neurologist puts it - two strokes. But because I appear normal and can function people think I am all better. NO - daily if not weekly I run into things ...that I used to be able to do without thought and now have to think about how to do them and then be able to do them. This will continue for the rest of my life and I am aware and adapt to this but no ... you never go back to how it was before you had the stroke because something in the brain is now gone for good.
ReplyDelete"Yes I am amazed at the last one and that this myth is most people's common perception" - I should justify that and say that it is when they find out that I have had a couple of strokes and what they see appears to be a normal functioning human being. Thus this is their perception of me and me after my strokes.
